Alexander trained in a 'Silver Circle' international law firm in the City of London. He works across all sectors of commercial shipping, and has also advised businesses involved in fisheries and aquaculture, international trade, construction, manufacturing, and the supply of pharmaceuticals. He has particular expertise in fisheries matters involving collisions with fishing vessels and the loss of fishing profits. He also has considerable experience in conducting internal corporate investigations and defending clients against external investigations by state authorities. Alexander conducts litigation in the Admiralty Court, Commercial Court, London Circuit Commercial Court, and Central London County Court, and he is authorised to conduct litigation up to the UK Supreme Court. He has been involved in numerous London arbitrations. Alexander collaborates with leading London barristers when additional support or advocacy is required.
Alexander works as an independent solicitor, in a regulated freelance model, similar to how barristers operate. This enables him to offer his clients more flexible fee arrangements and focus entirely on exceptional client service.
